eManager 4-IT is designed for the IT professional
organization to manage customer client information and
monitor multiple servers
from a single web application written in PHP and using a MySQL®
database. It can be securely accessed from anywhere using a
JavaScript enabled web browser by authorized users with the
appropriate privileges.
eManager 4-IT allows the IT professional to
effectively maintain information about their clients and the
client site installations, including servers, network,
workstations, miscellaneous appliances and applications. In
addition, eManager 4-IT allows the creation of service tickets
in order to track and monitor work performed and maintain a
history of all service or modifications to the client’s site
installation(s) and assets.
eManager 4-IT also allows the quick
right-now glance of a site installation’s online up or down
status through the internet in addition to keeping links
(favorites or bookmarks) to common connections to the clients
hardware and software applications without having to lookup the
site location’s address or maintaining a browser favorites list.
There is also the ability to upload attachments about clients,
their site installations, or assets. These attachments can be
contracts, service agreements, warranties, invoices, guides,
manuals or anything else.
We have many clients that we service and administer their network
for that includes a Lotus Foundations™ or other servers. One client
alone has a network across 24 different locations in a three-state area
with a Lotus Foundations server at each location. At our home
office, we also have a Lotus Foundations server that we utilize in our
operations. We often need to troubleshoot client problems or assist
them with their needs from wherever we happen to be at that time.
Trying to remember or keep notes on each client's configuration can
be a daunting task. Thus was born the idea for eManager 4-IT.
Simplistic ease of use, yet easily configurable and modifiable; able
to get to at any time from anywhere; secure the information content;
not require modification with updates to the server OS; adaptable to
the many possible complexities of a client configuration; and requires
no modification to the client's server. All these features drive
the design behind eManager 4-IT.
Version 2.1 Now Available!
New in this latest update is the
ability to remotely detect the status condition of
Lotus Foundations site servers. If the Status
Monitor service of the Lotus Foundations core is
available for a site, eManager 4-IT will report the
current status condition of the server. For example,
when any item in the WebConfig System Status has a
"RED" or "down" state, eManager 4-IT will remotely
report an "Error" condition for that Site.
Also new to eManager 4-IT is "Alert Monitor".
This feature allows sites to be monitored for their
on-line or off-line status and optionally send
E-Mail notification alerts when off-line. For Lotus
Foundations servers, eManager 4-IT will also
remotely detect if the site server has any error or
warning conditions and alarm or alert accordingly.
The monitoring of Sites has two operating modes. The
first mode of monitoring is ideal for when at your desktop
workstation and provides an audible alarm. The second mode
is for when you are away from your desk and wish
notification alerts to be sent to your E-Mail account or
directly to your mobile device or phone. Alert notifications
can be in either a normal E-Mail format or an SMS format suitable
for mobile text messaging. The destination, frequency and
format of alerts are all user selectable.
Scenario:
Printer drivers are often stored in a shared folder on the network
file server at the client’s location (because printer setup CD’s
often get misplaced). Replacing a workstation you need to
install the drivers to the network printer. However, it appears
that someone has “accidentally” deleted the folder containing these
drivers. So now you have to locate the install drivers for
this printer.
Not a problem with eManager 4-IT.
- Open a web browser session on the new workstation, and enter
the address to your organization’s eManager 4-IT system and
login.
- Click the Clients button and locate the client.
- Click the Assets icon to open the Assets list for that client
and locate the network printer that you are installing drivers
for.
- Open the Asset record for that printer and make note of
the IP address for the printer and any additional notes or instructions.
- Click the Attachments icon, and there is the zip file (that
you wisely uploaded when you installed and setup the printer
a year ago) that you can now download to the workstation.
While you’re at it, mark the previous workstation as taken out-of-service
and add the replacement workstation to the Asset list.
Then enter Service Tickets for the workstation and anything else
that had to be done.
Now doesn’t that beat spending a lot of time tracking down a
setup CD, or using an online web search engine to find a printer
driver site that doesn’t have broken links?
Not only that, you have also obtained key information that you
needed in order to setup the printer, updated the
inventory of the client’s equipment, and logged information about
the work performed for historical tracking and optionally for client
billing.
